Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

Paper and Fire picks up a little bit after Ink and Bone. Jess and the gang have settled into their lives at The Library, but they still need to rescue Thomas.

I was a little nervous going into this book thinking it would serve as a filler until the next book, as some series do. Boy was I glad to be wrong. There was never a dull moment in this book, and those moments were necessary! There was nothing “filler” about this book.

This series is still one of my favourite series and reminded that there are still some quality YA being produced out there. YA doesn’t have to be centered on whether or not your OTP ends up together. This book has very little romance, which I very truly appreciate. The gang is too busy trying to not get killed that being romantic is just stupid.

Although I didn’t enjoy this book as much as Ink and Bone, it was still really good and I still recommend this series!
